Release: Women's Community Revitalization Project Cuts Ribbon on 27 New Affordable Townhomes

The Women’s Community Revitalization Project (WCRP) celebrated the completion of its newest affordable housing development, 27-unit the Arlene Thorpe Townhomes, with a ribbon cutting ceremony on July 11.  Philadelphia City Council President Kenyatta Johnson, whose Second Council District the townhomes were built in, was on-site to honor the occasion.

Release: Affordable Housing Application Open – Townhomes Available in Grays Ferry

New affordable townhomes from the Women’s Community Revitalization Project (WCRP) will be completed this spring and applications are now open for interested rental tenants. The Arlene Thorpe Townhomes are being built in Philadelphia’s Grays Ferry neighborhood and will consist of seven one-bedrooms, 10 two-bedrooms, and 10 three-bedrooms.

Philadelphia City Council has paid tribute to the Women’s Community Revitalization Project (WCRP) for 35 years of serving Philadelphia’s low-income community with housing, social service programming and leadership in effectively advocating for the city’s most vulnerable citizens.

Release: Women’s Community Revitalization Project Breaks Ground on 33 Affordable Townhomes & Apartments

Women’s Community Revitalization Project (WCRP) broke ground on 33 new rental homes at Reed and South Capitol streets in Philadelphia’s Point Breeze neighborhood. The Mamie Nichols Townhomes, named for the late founder and executive director of the Point Breeze Federation, will replace vacant lots with permanently affordable apartments and townhomes.

WCRP is partnering with CATCH to construct Mamie Nichols Townhomes, which will be made available to families and veterans on what is currently vacant land.

Release: Women’s Community Revitalization Project a National Finalist for $500,000 Grant

Women's Community Revitalization Project is a national finalist for a grant of up to $500,000 by ArtPlace America. If awarded, WCRP will use the funds to work with artists to help solve community development challenges in the city’s Point Breeze and Gray’s Ferry neighborhoods.

Release: WCRP Executive Director Wins Social Innovator in Community Development Award

Nora Lichtash received first place from the Philadelphia Social Innovations Journal following 300 nominations and over 3,500 votes cast by citywide residents. The award “honors the region’s most passionate social innovators” across a range of fields who are working to make “Greater Philadelphia a more inclusive, equitable and thriving region of innovation and opportunity for all of its residents.”

Release: GSK celebrates 20 years of IMPACT Awards to nonprofits that make Philadelphia healthier

GSK today announced the GSK IMPACT Award Winners in a ceremony at GSK’s Navy Yard site. Ten local nonprofits earned $40,000 each in recognition of their outstanding contributions to a healthier Philadelphia region.  This is the 20th anniversary of GSK’s awards program, which has honored and supported hundreds of nonprofits that improve the lives of Philadelphians every day.

The Women’s Community Revitalization Project (WCRP) and partner Firm Hope Baptist Church cut the ribbon during a ceremony Friday at Grace Townhomes, a newly built residential development that brings 36 townhomes to a formerly blighted lot in Port Richmond.
